"Lomitas Lies" or . . .
Just How Many Special Education Students Does
Lomitas Elementary School REALLY Have?
Denise Edge, Lomitas Elementary School prinicpal and/or someone from the Victor Elementary School District, seems to have a problem with telling the truth (after all, it would make the school "look bad"). Just take a look at how someone for Lomitas Elementary School and/or the Victor Elementary School District lie about how many special education students they really have!
- Someone provides FALSE information regarding students during monitoring by U.S, Dept. of Education, Office for Civil Rights (OCR). Please note that the Victor Elementary School agreed to "Review the status of ALL students who were referred to SST (Student Study Team) meetings at any district site during the 1995-96 school year."
- While Lomitas Elementary School had an enrollment of approximately 800 students, someone reported, to OCR, that only ELEVEN STUDENTS were referred, at Lomitas, to SST meetings (meetings designed to "assist" students with "special needs") during the 1995-96 school year. In fact, just one teacher at Lomitas Elementary School referred that many students, out of just ONE CLASSROOM that year!
- Then, when they "applied" for the California Distinguished School Award, Lomitas claims to have SEVENTY-THREE special education students.
- Still later, when Lomitas Elementary School submitted their "application" for the National Blue Ribbon Award, to the same U.S. Department of Education, Lomitas now claimed that they had EIGHTY-FIVE special education students!
